Fort Meade Public Schools
Physical exams are required for children participating in Youth Services and/or school sport programs. Exams are good for one year. Including a physical exam in medical records will allow immediate participation. In addition, students in kindergarten, first, second, third, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grades, must have proof of a second dose of measles and one dose of mumps immunization to enter school. Students needing these immunizations can "walk-in" to the Kimbrough Immunization Clinic from 7:30-11:30am and 1 -3:30pm Monday-Friday. Immunization records and medical records should be brought to the school. Anne Arundel County Public Schools offer Special Education Programs for children who are intellectually, emotionally and /or physically challenged. Placement in these programs is made through the School Team at the neighborhood school and then referred to the Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee (ARD) at the County Division of Special Education. Parents of children with special school needs should contact the School Liaison Officer (301) 677-3843 or Army Community Service at (301) 677-5590 or Navy Family Service at (301) 677-6882 prior to contacting the school. This will help provide a smooth transition into the school system. 20755 Meade Middle School is operated by Anne Arundel County Public Schools for children Grades 6, 7 and 8. School attendance areas are Brock Bridge, Jessup, Meade Heights and Van Bokkelen Elementary. There is no tuition charge to students living with parents or legal guardians within the school boundary. 20755 MacArthur Middle School is operated by Anne Arundel County Public Schools for children in grades 6, 7 and 8. The school attendance are includes the attendance are for Harman, Manor View, Maryland City, Pershing Hill, and West Meade Elementary Schools. There is no tuition charge to students living with parents or legal guardians within the school area. SPECIAL PROGRAMS: MacArthur Middle School is pleased to offer an extracurricular program which enables students to become involved in such activities as athletics, yearbook publication, a rocketry and aquatics club, a student newspaper, computer club, a Math, Engineering and Science club, and a military board games club. Additionally, we offer a full range of music groups such as chorus, band and orchestra. To enhance the total school program, all classrooms have Internet access, at least one computer, and students have access to at least two computer labs where instructional activities are completed. 20755 Manor View Elementary School is operated by Anne Arundel County Public Schools for children from prekindergarten through grade 5. Children who live in MacArthur Village and the Washington Avenue areas attend this school. Also, children who receive day care at CDC I and CDC II attend Manor View, though parents of these children must submit paperwork requesting placement at Manor View due to babysitting. There is no tuition charge to students living with parents or legal guardians within the school area. REGISTRATION: Students may be registered between 0730 and 1530, however , students registering after 0800 will not start school until the following day. To register a child you must have a birth certificate or passport, shot record with all immunizations current, Social Security Card, records from the previous school, and proof of residency. If you have not yet been assigned housing, Base Housing should provide a letter stating the area in which you will be living. The school also provides special education services to students. Children living in the Meade Heights housing development, Reece Heights, Jacob's Road and Spring Meadows community attend this school. Meade Feeder System includes nine elementary schools, two middle
schools and one high school. These schools belong to the Anne Arundel
County School System. Four of the elementary schools, the middle
schools and the high school are located on Fort Meade. The remaining
five elementary schools are located off-post in the surrounding
communities. If you live in Anne Arundel County and desire to register
your child in a school in another county, you should contact that
county to determine tuition fees.
